Sights and Sounds from Wildcat Welcome 2019

Wildcat Welcome week kicked off the first week of school with a bang. Through a series of over 20 events, JWU students, faculty and alumni came together to celebrate their Wildcat pride. Beginning with move-in weekend, the week’s highlights included Ignite the Night, laser tag, a zoo takeover and much more. Ignite the Night Kicks Off a Wild(cat) Welcome Week

Providence’s Downcity and Harborside campuses came alive this past weekend as new and returning students moved into residence halls and began preparing for Welcome Week. This annual kick-off to the fall term is jam-packed with more than 20 events to welcome students back to campus.

Wildcat Willie Takes on Boston Bruins Fan Fest

The Boston Bruins Fan Fest Tour made its stop in Providence on Sunday, August 25, and Wildcat Willie was there to join in the fun. As the official education partner of TD Garden and the Boston Bruins, JWU was excited to have the Bruins just a few blocks away from its Providence Campus at the Alex and Ani Center.

Explore Robotics, Food + Forensics: JWU Summer Camps for Kids + Teens

5/8/19 | This summer, Johnson & Wales University (JWU) is offering kids and teens an alternative to traditional summer camp. JWU Summer Camps, taught by the university’s industry-experienced faculty and held on its Providence campus, are reflective of the university’s signature academic programs. Camps are designed for young people interested in culinary arts, baking & pastry arts, criminal justice, and engineering & design.

JWU Wrestling Captures 3rd NCAA Regional Title

2/25/19 | JWU Wrestling captured their 3rd regional championship in a row this past weekend at the NCAA Division III Regionals, which were hosted at JWU’s Providence Campus.

JWU Providence to Host NCAA Division III Wrestling Regional

2/20/2019 | This February 23 and 24, JWU Providence will be hosting the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Wrestling Regional.

In addition to JWU’s top-ranked Wrestling team, the regional will also feature Bridgewater State, Castleton, the Coast Guard Academy, New England College, Norwich, New York University, Rhode Island College, Plymouth State, Roger Williams, Southern Maine, Springfield, Trinity, Wesleyan, Western New England, Williams and WPI. JWU, RISD and Farm Fresh RI Share 2018 Food Vision Prize

11/13/18 | The combined power of two of the region’s prominent higher education institutions — one an internationally recognized food authority, one an internationally recognized design authority — and a venerable local food hub is changing the way college students eat.

Johnson & Wales University (JWU), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Farm Fresh RI will share a 2018 New England Food Vision Prize, a $250,000 award from the Henry P. Kendall Foundation, to encourage colleges and universities to increase the amount of regionally-produced food on campus menus.

Athletics Highlights: GNAC Championship, DI Wrestling Matchup and More

11/5/18 | This past weekend was a busy and extremely successful one for JWU Providence Athletics. On Saturday, women’s volleyball won their fourth Great Northeast American Conference (GNAC) championship title with their 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) decision over Rivier. That same day, the #3-ranked wrestling team was put to the test against a pair of Division I programs, Rutgers and Fresno State, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. (In parallel, a JWU contingency also took part in the Ithaca College Invitational in upstate New York.)

A Warm Welcome for New + Returning Wildcats

9/3/18 | New and returning Wildcats alike were welcomed back to JWU’s Providence Campus this past weekend. Although Wildcat Welcome officially lasts the entire first week of the academic year, Labor Day weekend is especially jam-packed — from the hustle and bustle of move-in to all kinds of athletics (men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey teams play their season openers), food, karaoke and a Saturday night appearance by comedian Matt Bellassai.
