Call to Action: North Miami Campus Continues Dorian Relief Efforts

Hurricane Dorian caused catastrophic damages to the Bahamas this past September. As the scale of destruction became clear, the JWU North Miami community — which includes a large number of native Bahamian students, many of whom were personally impacted by the storm — sprang into action. Under the direction of North Miami Campus President Larry Rice, the Campus Leadership Team quickly endorsed and activated a Hurricane Dorian relief drive to assist the affected community.

I wanted to share the great sense of empathy for the families, relatives and friends affected by the catastrophic damages caused by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. As active members of this community, it is our duty and responsibility to assist our neighbors in these critical times as they begin the long process of recovery.

North Miami Students Lend a Hand for Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts

12/19/17 | When Hurricane Maria struck the island of Puerto Rico on September 20, it left 3.4 million residents without power and it was reported that the storm claimed 64 lives. Three months later, much of the island remains without power and the death toll is now projected to be more than 1,000. As residents of the island continue to rebuild, the need for basic supplies is still a challenge and one that resonated with many South Florida residents, including the students of JWU’s North Miami Campus.

Operation: Peace, Love & Bread Crafts an Epic Holiday Baguette Tree

12/15/17 | Each year, JWU Providence club Operation: Peace, Love & Bread (OPLB) crafts an amazing holiday tree made entirely of bread. The tree stands as a beautiful centerpiece in the foyer of the Cuisinart Center for Culinary Excellence (CCCE), located on the university’s Harborside Campus.

Rhode Island Civic Leaders Celebrate Women’s History Month at JWU

3/30/16 | Johnson & Wales University’s Providence Campus recently played host to a very special panel discussion convened by United States Senator Jack Reed (RI) and the Women’s Fund of Rhode Island.

The theme, “Working to Form a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in Public Service and Government,” was a celebration of Women’s History Month.
