JWU to Honor Industry Leaders at 2018 Commencement Ceremonies

April 18, 2018 | This May, Johnson & Wales University will award 9 honorary doctorate degrees to industry luminaries and a total of 3,200 undergraduate and graduate degrees at its 2018 commencement ceremonies, to be held at the university’s 4 campuses.

GRADUATE STUDIES
Friday, May 18, 11am

  • Recipient + Keynote: Laura Freid, EdD, president, Maine College of Art, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.
  • Recipient: Joseph R. Beretta, president and chief financial officer, Robinson Green Beretta Corp., will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

UNDERGRADUATE (MORNING)
Saturday, May 19, 8:45am: John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business, College of Engineering & Design and College of Hospitality Management

  • Recipient + Keynote: John E. Taylor Jr., chairman of the board, Twin River Worldwide Holdings Inc., will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.
  • Recipient: Thomas L. Dwyer, executive vice president and former vice chancellor, Johnson & Wales University, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

UNDERGRADUATE (AFTERNOON)
Saturday, May 19, 1:45pm: College of Culinary Arts, College of Hospitality Management (Food Service Management)

  • Recipient + Keynote: Maribeth N. Bisienere, senior vice president, Parks and Security, Walt Disney World, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.
  • Recipient: Paul F. O’Reilly, president and chief executive officer, Newport Harbor Corporation, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

NORTH MIAMI
Saturday, May 19, 10am
Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center

  • Recipient + Keynote: Marie A. Sastre, president and chief operating officer, Signature Flight, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

DENVER
Friday, May 18, 10am
Boettcher Concert Hall

  • Recipient + Keynote: Marco Antonio Abarca, president and owner, Ready Foods Inc., will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.

CHARLOTTE
Saturday, May 19, 10am
Spectrum Center

  • Recipient + Keynote: Dennis L. Thompson, founder and co-chairman of the board, Firebirds International LLC, principal, Red Mountain Management LLC, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration.
