Sunday, June 30th, 2013 - The challenge of a life time. The day we had to put everything that we had learned together and go out on our own.
On the Friday before June 30th we were presented with a challenge. The challenge was that we had to decipher locations given to us in Korean, find them and then take a picture according to the instructions given. That night I sat down and tried to decipher the locations we were to find. By Sunday we were able to decipher all but a few. Armed with a map and 7 of the 12 locations deciphered we started out. The first location we went to was Namdaemun Market. Our task was to find the main gate and then jump in the air while taking a picture. Since our camera did not have a time stamp we needed to take a picture with a newspaper with the current date on it.
After the first location was found we were off. The next few locations were easy to find. Then we stopped at Tom Toms Coffee and asked a girl there to help us to decipher and find the last locations. She was very helpful in deciphering and circling on a map where we were supposed to go. We found another location and took our picture and then it came time to find the National Folk Museum and the old trolley/street car. This was the hardest location for us to find. After walking around for an hour and speaking with about 5 security guards, 2 booth workers and a teacher and her students, we were finally on the right track. Ironically the students were more helpful than the adults on giving directions to his location. Finally we found the trolley/street car and asked a gentleman there to take our picture.
Even though it was 90 degrees out we continued on our search to find the rest of the locations. We had another nice gentlemen take a picture of us at the War Memorial of Korea and another gentleman take a picture with Zhuo at Tapgol Park.
After 5hrs of searching the city we finally finished our challenge!
